It is a 14th-century moated castle in East Sussex, England. Built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years’ War.
On Thursday, the Crimean parliament unanimously voted to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation. The request has been officially sent to Moscow, although President Vladimir Putin has not announced his intentions yet.
In response to Russia’s incursion into Ukrainian territory, President Barack Obama signed an executive order on Thursday to freeze the U.S.-based assets and property of Russian officials who have been involved in the military intervention. The State Department is also denying visas to both Russian and Ukrainian officials who were involved.
